As the hostess Barbara is a passionate cook, you will enjoy her favorite dishes during your vacation in Southern Styria at Golden Hill. Barbara enchants her guests with culinary creations. Served course by course in your chalet or on balmy evenings according to availability to your table in the loft park.

Enjoy a glass of fine wine in a fabulous setting. Our Wine Cellar makes any occasion an unforgettable experience: romantic by candlelight, relaxing with lounge music or traditional in the “Styrian style”.
Local and international wines are served with culinary delights, such as Barbara’s lovingly prepared canapés,
Wine tastings are organised on request for groups of at least 8 persons.

The best from the Sausal and much more
You don’t know the Sausal terroir wines yet? Then it is high time that you caught up. Our winemaker friend, Leopold von Cramer from the Albert winery in Kitzeck, has bottled this exquisite drop exclusively for Golden Hill. The “Burgundy Cuvée 2019” Golden Hill Selection from Kitzeck’s best vineyards is a rarity that you absolutely must taste alongside other wines from selected vintners whilst on holiday, during your private dining experience or at a wine tasting.
Selected wines can also be taken home at the “Golden Hill vineyard price”.
What made the Sausal wines so special on the whole?
It is the origin. The Sausal consists of 85% barren slate soils and 15% shell limestone soils. These soils bring slow growth and shape the character of the wines, which is reflected by an often salty mineral typicality. The vineyards of the Sausal are on average 100 metres higher in altitude than the rest of southern Styria. Here one finds the highest single vineyard sites in Austria of up to 650 metres above sea level. With slopes of up to 90%, the Sausal is also one of the steepest wine-growing regions in Europe. The extremely steep vineyards are cultivated by hand with a winch or in terraces.

The Golden Hill Selection is a special selection of noble South Styrian growths. Whether our Rosé “Berry Kiss”, our “Summer Feeling” – a liaison of Muskateller and Welschriesling -, our popular Burgundy Grand Cuvée from Sausal’s site wines, our Shiraz-Privat Edition or our “Sweet Moments” – they all have one thing in common: they are wines that touch the soul. So that your vacation enjoyment lasts long at home, all wines can also be taken home at farm-gate prices.

Champagne-Lounge
Not just only bring the day to a close in our champagne lounge, but also celebrate emotional moments: your marriage proposal, birthday celebration or wedding in a small setting – there a many occasions to celebrate.
The marvellous setting of the lounge with views on the natural swimming pond is also a perfect space for enjoying a relaxed cigar. Host Andreas has a nice assortment in his humidor. The lounge is always available for our guests, but can also be booked exclusively for enjoyable vacation moments.

We don't smoke - we taste
Enjoy our special Golden Hill cigar from Daniel Marshall-Cigar, LA., in various sizes, And find your favorite spot for it: On your chalet terrace, in the Champagne Lounge (our “outdoor living room”!) with a view of the natural swimming pond or while philosophizing with the host Andreas Reinisch by a crackling fire in the courtyard of the Panorama Loft.
Take time during your Golden Hill vacation for moments of pleasure – according to the motto: “The luxury of a cigar is not the price, but the time you spend with it”.

Golden Hill is located in the picturesque hills of southern Styria, where exquisite cuisine can be enjoyed in the immediate vicinity. Not far from Golden Hill there are numerous excellent Styrian taverns, restaurants and even award winning-restaurants. We would be happy to advise you during your stay what could please your heart.
